If you choose a job that you enjoy, it won’t feel like work. While programming can be a profitable career and an interesting hobby, it’s important to have diverse interests outside of your job. Those with a broad range of hobbies tend to have more satisfying lives and their work benefits from their wider perspective. Although IT is an exciting field, some professionals are so passionate about their work that they have little time to pursue other interests, which can ultimately hurt their productivity.
TechTellent is not only about tasks, projects, and deadlines. We recognize the importance of our team members’ hobbies and interests, as they contribute to their personal development and overall happiness. Engaging in hobbies is not just a way to relax after work, but also a way to improve cognitive skills and stimulate creativity. We celebrate the uniqueness of each individual and encourage them to pursue their passions.
Our team at TechTellent boasts a diverse range of interests, from outdoor activities like hiking and ice skating to more indoor pursuits such as traveling and competitive gaming. These varied hobbies fuel our collective creativity and innovation, allowing us to excel in the dynamic and constantly evolving field of IT. Join us as we explore how our team strikes the ideal balance between work and play.
Pavlo, Full Stack Engineer
My hobbies are sports (swimming, gym, martial arts), and gaining new knowledge through books, YouTube, and courses. This winter I went ice skating – really enjoyed it.
Oleksandr, Product Owner
I have been skateboarding for over 15 years, and in general, I love extreme sports – snowboarding, wakeboarding, and basically anything that involves trying out drifts. I have a passion for vintage sports cars. In my collection, I have a completely stocked Porsche 986. I dream of a 911 Targa in any body style, and I’m an overall Porsche enthusiast. I used to be more of a runway model. Now I go to the gym, enjoy traveling the world, and I have a substantial Lego collection.
Daniel, Game Producer
In 1988, I traveled to the Congo and spent a week with a group of Pygmies. Currently, I’m dedicated to learning Czech and split my time between London and Prague. The 10-day boat journey up the Congo River was truly remarkable. It included encounters with piles of dried monkey carcasses and a live crocodile tethered at one end of the boat, spanning its entire width, which meant you had to step over it.

Olia, Junior Lawyer
I enjoy reading psychological self-development books, practicing Tae Bo, and exploring new places on weekends. My fascination with Tae Bo began during my university years when I was exploring various fitness activities. It instantly resonated with me. Having an excellent instructor, the substantial energy expended, and the post-workout sensation, where you feel completely drained yet revitalized, is akin to squeezing every last drop of juice from a lemon. Moreover, on an emotional level, it feels like it’s a part of you.
Oleksandr, Technical Writer
I produce electronic music, you can listen to my music here: https://soundcloud.com/incebi. I enjoy snowboarding in winter, I mostly ride in the Carpathian Mountains.
Myroslava, People Partner
I’m incredibly excited because, in just 2 weeks, I’ll be working behind the bar for the first time. We’re brainstorming and creating a special cocktail that I’ll be preparing for our guests. My friends also gave me a book titled ‘101 Cocktails You Must Try Before You Die,’ and this book is currently sitting in the same bar. We’re systematically working our way through it so that I can try all 101 cocktails.

I adore long walks with breaks for coffee and snacks, and I’m also passionate about painting portraits. I’ve tried my hand at various art materials: watercolors, acrylics, gouache, and pencils, but currently, I prefer watercolor painting due to its ease, the ability for layering, and sometimes the graphic quality it offers.
Regarding the genre, I’m fond of portraits, especially realistic portrayals of women (maybe because of my lack of imagination, or perhaps it’s my desire to capture a person’s unique features or state). Probably, I’m drawn to portraits because I’m meticulous and detail-oriented, striving to depict every tiny detail.
By the way, when I mentioned a lack of imagination, I wasn’t kidding, as I usually don’t come up with something entirely new; I paint from a reference. Maybe it’s because of my “mathematical mind,” but it’s genuinely easier for me to take a photograph, analyze the lines, shapes, colors, tones, and so on along the way, and then recreate them.

I am really keen on hiking, powerlifting, and boxing. I’ve been involved in all of these activities since school. I try to engage in boxing and weightlifting several times a week. Currently, I’ve paused sparring a bit because sometimes it leaves bruises, and explaining that at the office would be challenging :). So, I stick to weightlifting, even though my physique doesn’t necessarily show it.
I go on hiking trips less frequently now, but I still try to get out once a year. My first hiking experience was in 6th grade when I went on a two-day, 50-kilometer trek (which was a bit against safety rules, so they added a few years to my age for that). On my most recent trip, I went with people I didn’t know very well initially, but after four days in a tent and 20 hours in a sleeper car, we all became good friends. During that trip, we encountered bad weather, and when the storm was approaching while ascending a mountain called Petros, it was quite risky. We got soaked to the bone (even my trusty flag, which always accompanies me on all my outings, got a bit moldy because the storm raged on for a few more days), but we still managed to reach our overnight campsite, climbing through the rain clouds at night.
